Xcel Energy’s own John Marshall received the Superior Service Medal, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the Minnesota National Guard, during a ceremony Oct. 30. Marshall received the award in recognition of his role in forming the Serving Our Troops organization. The award was presented by Maj. Gen. Richard C. Nash, Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard.
“Xcel Energy has been a long-time supporter of Serving Our Troops, even before I joined the company, so this is really an honor that I share with Xcel Energy,” Marshall said. “Serving Our Troops was born out of a group of community leaders wanting to show our heartfelt appreciation to the brave men and women who serve and to their family members at home. I’m proud to be a part of this great organization and pleased to accept this recognition of their important work.”
Serving Our Troops, founded in 2004, brings deployed Minnesota troops and their families together for a steak dinner via live international video. The volunteer organization has organized 11 events and served over 85,000 steak dinners since its inception. Learn more about Serving Our Troops. http://www.servingourtroops.com/
