From controlling robotic machines on assembly lines to cleaning equipment in manufacturing operations to vaporizing paint to be applied to components and products, compressed air has many uses across a variety of industries.
Facilities managers at these companies are always looking for ways to save on energy bills, and that means operating as efficiently as possible.
They turn to Xcel Energy for help saving energy, who turns to Ingersoll Rand, long time trade partner and expert in the field.
The key to compressed air systems is looking beyond the equipment and understanding the total process of producing compressed air.
“What our team likes to do is ask the customer a lot of questions, understand what their goals are, and talk to them about energy efficiency,” says Jeff Jensen, Ingersoll Rand Rocky Mountain District General Manager. “We might suggest a compressed air study simply on the supply side all the way up to a full blown audit which also looks at the demand side including production processes. We review their systems and make recommendations from there.”
Ingersoll Rand’s diverse and innovative products range from complete air compressor systems, tools, ARO pumps, material handling systems and more. Ingersoll Rand provides products, services and solutions that enhance customers’ energy efficiency, productivity and operations.
They work in industries such as manufacturing and assembly, mining and natural resources, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and even smaller automobile and truck service businesses.
This global business is committed to a world of sustainable progress and enduring results.
“The initial meeting with the customer is just the start, “explains Jensen. “We want to be a partner to them throughout the life cycle of their equipment.”
“They always have the customer’s best interest in mind and that’s why we’re proud to partner with them,” says Bob Macauley Trade Relations Manager, Xcel Energy. “Part of what we like to do is educate our small business customers who don’t have an Xcel Energy account manager. We appreciate that Jeff and his crew help with that educational process.”
Jensen and his colleagues work with Xcel Energy to make recommendations about energy-saving equipment that is eligible for rebates. The partnership has produced some impressive numbers.
Since 2010, Ingersoll Rand has helped customers achieve more than a million dollars in rebates. The collective savings equate to over 11 million kWh, or enough to power 850 homes for a year, according to the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies calendar. The work has primarily been through Xcel Energy’s Compressed Air, Motors and Variable Frequency Drives programs.
“We provide customers with the most efficient systems possible. It aligns with our global mission to advance the quality of life by creating comfortable, sustainable, efficient environments,” says Jensen.
And with a utility committed to helping customers save energy and money, it’s no wonder the partnership has flourished and will continue for years to come.
